Sigueme is a free application designed to enhance visual attention and train the acquisition of meaning in people with autism. The project works on different touch and non-touch devices: desktop computers, digital whiteboards, netbooks, laptops (Windows and Linux) and tablets (iPad and Android).

Developed by the Orange Foundation and the University of Granada, the overall objective of the SIGUEME educational application is to promote and enhance the development of perceptual-visual and cognitive-visual processes in people with low-functioning autism, to achieve the acquisition of meaning (association of images with verbal labels and their meaning).

Sigueme gives meaning and guides the intervention to be carried out with people who still do not have access to reading and writing and have not accessed the understanding of the meaning of words and images.

In Sigueme, six phases are presented, ranging from baseline stimulation to the acquisition of meaning from videos, photographs, drawings and pictograms, including the last phases of categorization and association activities through games.

Sigueme: is an application whose main purpose is to improve the cognitive-visual and perceptual-visual processes through photographs, pictograms, videos, etc. Some of the objectives pursued by the program are: Promote visual fixation and monitoring, improve visual attention to basal stimuli, adapt the sequence of presentation of images of each phase to normal development, develop the ability to observe, have their experiences previous adapting them to their perceptual state and relating them to their daily experience, enhancing mental representation and linguistic understanding; and behavioral improvement related to the control of stereotypes, decentration problems, motivation and interest in the game. The application has been designed following educational strategies that can help the user with ASD to develop those cognitive structures that are necessary to compensate for the difficulties they have in learning.

Sigueme has been designed for various environments responding to the needs and available resources of each user. It works without the need for an internet connection and allows its use in different contexts, as a complement and an educational and / or entertainment tool.

Síqueme works on any computer (PC, laptop, digital whiteboard ...) with a Windows operating system (from Windows XP onwards), which meets the following minimum requirements:

Hardware requirements:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, 500MB of free disk space.
  • Graphics card with at least 128MB of memory and compatible with OpenGL.

Software requirements:

  • In order for Sigueme to work it is necessary to have Java installed (http://www.java.com). Version 1.7 or later is recommended. If you want to download the off-line version of java (to store it on an external disk, for example), you can do it from here. Depending on the version of Java (32 or 64 bits), the appropriate installer must be downloaded. To find out which installer to download, use the user manual for Windows. In any case, when you install Sigueme, you will be notified if the version you have installed is appropriate or not.
  • Free VLC software (www.videolan.org) is also required. It is recommended to install version 2.0.1 or later.
  • PCs with lower resources can run Sigueme, but there may be display problems or activities may be excessively slow.

This software has been tested with several devices that meet these requirements, resulting in optimal operation and performance of the Sigueme application with all of them, however, the Orange Foundation and the University of Granada cannot guarantee its suitability for all devices. available in the market at all times, even when they can meet the minimum requirements indicated.   • Processor: 1Gz.
  • RAM: 512 MB minimum.

Download Sigueme for iPad

Sigueme for iPad is compatible with Apple iPad (2nd generation onwards) and iPad Mini devices.

The first generation iPad may have performance issues, so its use is discouraged for this application.

Regarding the operating system, it is recommended that the software of the device is updated, although the minimum version supported is iOS 5.0.
